HORROR: After Effects of Eyelash Extensions

Over the last 6 months or so... I've had eyelash extensions. Loved the pretty fluttery lashes... I even got so accustomed to them I could swim with them on... no problems or discomfort.

But I always had the nagging voice in my head telling me that the extensions are no good for my real lashes... and just like women who had Hair extensions for a long time, and found that when they finally took them off, they lost a lot of real hair (For example, Victoria Beckham!)... I worried that when I finally took my eyelash extensions off, I'd lose a lot of my real lashes.

This is me on my way to get the extensions off. Also the last time you will see me with eyelash extensions.

And the results? Well.. when I said I was afraid I'd lose "A LOT"of my eyelashes... that was an understatement!

Horrific. This is a close up of my eye now. I'm not wearing ANY make up at all by the way. The pink on my eyelid is not eyeshadow. As horrific as this looks to me now ( I look so odd... without any eyelashes. even my bottom lashes are longer than my upper eyelashes now)... I'm confident that they will grow back in a couple of weeks.

My verdict? If you want long lashes for a night out, just take the damn time to stick on falsies. You pay a heavy heavy price for eyelash extensions.

I dunnoe.. maybe in 2 weeks when they grow back.. I would have forgotten about this shocker, and painful ordeal and jump back on the barbie doll lashes bandwagon. ( Though G has mentioned that he doesn't like the lash extensions)

Or maybe I'm doomed to roam the earth for the rest of my life with bald Martian eyelids! haha.. I laugh, but I'm actually a bit worried. Any of you girls did eyelash extensions and the eyelashes permanently didn't grow back????
-----------------------

I apologise for that disgusting picture of my bald and sore eyelid. But I think that since so many girls keep emailing asking me where I get my eyelashes done, I should show them what happens after the pretty extensions come off too! :(
on a happy note... here's a pic of my birthday cake last Saturday. Yes.. still within the Holly Jean Birthday cake tradition... it had to be a white wedding cake. Almond sugee inside (like all Grago/Eurasian wedding cakes!) and 2 layers of soft icing on outside. The inner one is a light peppermint icing, and the outside crust is white wedding cake icing. Yummy!
Oooh. and the pretty necklace I wore today was from Janth Avenue.

The Formula 1 Night Race

It's been a great weekend. First the F1 Rocks concert (with my best friend F!)... and last night- the F1 night race.BoldA new friend of mine, G, invited me to watch the F1 race with him at AQUA (Click!) , which is a mobile pop-up bar. It's an interesting lifestyle concept... a bar which can be assembled within a day, and can be transported all over the world... like a mobile party venue.
G and his partners started the company Grandstand (Click) , and Aqua is one of their babies. This year, at the F1 venue, the bar was set up just by the flyer.
We were on the third floor of the bar. Which gave us an amazing view of the track. And it was super duper loud! Loved it!
They had a pool too... I would have freaking jumped in if I had my swim suit. The cab driver stopped me at Suntec... and I had to walk all the way to Gate 2... miles... plus it was a gravelly path for the most part (once in the gates), and I had my high heeled boots. Was literally sweating buckets by the time I got there. In case you're asking at this point... where are the pics of the cars Holly Jean??? Did you only go to the F1 to look at that one handsome man??? haha.

Well, my camera is shit, and could not get nice pics. (I'm thinking of buying that pink underwater camera from Fujifilm.. which I think is worse than my current camera. But it's sooo cute!)
The cars were too fast and I was too .... erm retarded. Here's a short video clip... everytime they whizzed past, I snapped either too early or too late!
video
Hamilton won, as you all probably know by now. I couldn't care less. haa. But the adrenaline and atmosphere of being at the race itself... is fantastic. Think I shocked some people on twitter & facebook last night when I said "OMG! Those fucking engines roar! I could have sex right here" lol.
The F1 is just so damn sexy. Plus, it's a turn on when men are all macho machismo. :)

Which Is Your Look?

Thanks for taking part in the last Ettusais Give Away on my blog. I hope the winner is enjoying her new mascara!
If you want to get your hands (or eyelashes!) on the Separate Mascara (Perfect) or the Perfect Multi Mascara... just go to any ettusais counter! They are having free makeovers now. It's the perfect chance for you to experience what these mascaras can do for your eyes!

Last week, I brought my girlfriend N to the ettusais counter in Isetan Tampines to try out the new looks achievable with the new ettusais mascaras.
Ettusais beauty staff, Eunice offered her a choice of 3 looks. Sexy Lady, Pretty Doll and Baby Girl. She chose to do the Sexy Lady. You learn a lot of things when getting pampered at the ettusais counter. They teach you how to blend and conceal blemishes, help you pick out colours that suit you and make up application techniques as well. Not to mention... there's always tonnes of new stuff for you to try out.
N felt that the make up was very light and fresh. Didn't feel heavy on the skin at all. And it's the mascara that can really make the difference! It gave her eyes fluttery sexy lashes.

Eunice used the Seperate Mascara on her. It coated all her lashes, and held in the curls. It also also lengthened and thickened each lash. We went shopping all day in bugis village as well, and it didn't smudge even when we were sweating!
While N was having her make over, I was busy trying out nail colours and make up.

N's final look! A pretty and fresh looking face with well defined, gorgeous eyes. There's even a free Perfect Manual so she can recreate all 3 looks at home.

What are you waiting for???

I Just Turned 29

29!

F1 concert was fab! Pics at the end of this post.

Just dropped my best friend off. She's flying back to Indonesia in a few hours.
I've actually gotten used to having my good friends far away from me. Alwyn works in Denmark, and Farizan (F) works in Indonesia and married an Indonesian. But this was the first time where after I hugged F goodbye in the cab, and dropped her off... I cried.

Not like a bawling baby and alarming the taxi driver or anything dramatic like that. But I'm just very sad.

Yeah... it's only Indonesia.. 2 hours away. But having her around for the last 2 weeks has helped tremendously in coping with my break up.
And now I'm alone again.
Mark actually SMSed me from Spain tonight, it was a heartwarming message to wish me a Happy Birthday, and one line that really got to me was - .."we nearly made it girl". :( close... but not close enough I guess.

It makes me literally grab at my heart and scream.... Why?! Why me?! Why can't things go right for me at least once in my life? Especially the one thing that mattered.

Such is life. I've just got to accept that it just wasn't meant to be.
--------------------
PICs:
Fort Canning was jam packed with people. All in party mood.Farizan and I only arrived at 8 plus, and snaked our way to the front. We missed the first few acts, but it's ok... I only like No Doubt. All the pretty accessories on Farizan and I tonight were from Janth Avenue. :)And of course... the highlight of the night.. Gwen Stefanie! All my pics are crap... but her abs... are to die for. Then some time in between.. Patrick (guy in the pic) interviewed me. Can't remember what I said. Must have been embarrassing rubbish judging from my super-wide smile. I CANNOT DRINK ALCOHOL IT KILLS MY BRAIN. Happy times :)

Porta-looooooooooooos. Nice. Real NICE.

--------------

All in all... a great event. I enjoyed myself. Now if you will excuse me, I have to cry myself to sleep. Tomorrow will be a better day. It has to be.

Ask Holly Jean - The Hair Special

Ok, in today's Ask Holly Jean section, I've actually got a professional who will answer the questions from my readers (and myself) regarding hair.

Horii Takao is from Komachi The HairCult.
1. Who should go for hair treatments? How often?
Anybody who has dry hair, or hair that has been damaged by chemical works. For example, hair that is frequently colored or hair that has been permed. But if the problem arises from a problematic scalp, then you shoudl opt for a scalp treatment. Be sure to consult your stylist first and if the problem is serious, you may want to consider visiting a trichologist.

2. Is it normal for long hair to fall a lot? What can I do to manage hair fall?
Yes, the longer the hair, the more stress is applied on the roots. Rather than wait till you have a serious hair loss problem, you can try several preventive measures. Use an anti hair loss shampoo once or twice a week to clarify the scalp of impurities. Invest in a bottle of anti hair loss tonic and use it on a daily or alternate day basis to provide nutrients to the scalp thus strengthening the roots, prevent hair loss and promote hair growth.

Recommendations: Simply Zen Stimulating Shampoo (250ml) S$ 22, Simply Zen Stimulating Scalp Lotion (100ml) S$ 52. Both give the scalp a cool and tingling sensation which gives additional relief and refreshment to the scalp given Singapore’s hot and humid weather.

3. Is it ok to wash my hair everyday?
Yes, it’s ok to wash your hair everyday. Please use a light shampoo (for daily wash) suitable for your scalp and hair condition and refrain from using too many styling products that might clog the scalp.

4. I use a wash off hair treatment instead of a conditioner almost everyday because I think a treatment is better than normal conditioner, is this ok?
It’s more costly but it does result in healthier, shinier and silkier hair. Do try to leave in on a few more minutes before rinsing it off immediately so that the treatment has a longer time to work on your hair and give better results.

--------------
If you girls (and guys) have any other hair related questions, do post it in the comments section. I'll compile them and get Horii to answer them for us.

I Love My Body, You Should Love Yours Too!

With the help of a personal trainer, I've been pushing myself harder at the gym than ever before. And I love it!We've been working on building my shoulders and arms recently. Though I really want to only work on abs and legs and bum.... but I guess there's no point in that if my upper body remains scrawny. (Someone actually asked me last night if I had an eating disorder?! You Know Who You Are! Of course I don't. I have a high fat and sugar diet actually. But almost no Carbs, so maybe tht's why I don't bulk up much) This is Jonathan (crazy!) my personal trainer.
I can never be this enthusiastic about exercise... but if I can have my 6 pec showing at the end of the ten personal training sessions...... I'll be a happy girl.

I've been wanting to put swimming back into my routine (esp since I never do cardio at the gym now... hate treadmills and steppers... so incredibly boring!). My chlorine-free hair has been VERY happy over the last month or so.... but I do miss my regular swimming sessions. Maybe I'll just have to bite the bullet and go alone. MAYBE I'll start tomorrow morning. *fingers crossed*

There's a fitness event coming up next month (nothing to do with the gym I go to by the way). I just came across it, and think it'll be fun! Plus it's for the Breast Cancer Foundation. (Go! Pink Ribbon!)
AllShapes is organising an Aerobathon! It's a fun and fit afternoon for women (and Men!) with activities such as body sculpting, yoga and kickboxing!

It's on Saturday, the 17th of October, 8am... at Playground (the old big splash at East Coast). The registration fee is $30 (do your bit for charity!) and you get a free goodie bag worth over $100!

The Programme:

8:00 am: Participants Registration & Goodie Bags Collection
9:00 am: Speeches by Guest of Honors
9:30 am: 4 Key Workouts namely; Bolly Jolly, Kickboxing, Fun Firm and Yoga - 30 mins each
(Suitable for everyone. If you do not want to follow all, you can choose to do only one or two which you prefer. Not a competition.)
11:30 am: Prize Presentation
12:00 pm - 5:00 pm: Bazaar

Always making excuses not to get off your arse and exercise??? This is the perfect opportunity to have a fun morning, try new activities and do your bit for charity.

Register online here or call (65) 6440 9308.

My Birthday is Gonna Rock!

Received my birthday present from ettusais! It's my eye zone massaging essence, Hyper eye make up off (my first time using this) , lippie and Eyebrow pencil sharperner. On Tuesday, my good friend N went with me for a behind the scenes look at the set up of F1 Rocks at Fort Canning.
Still a work in progress.. but it's going to be such a mega event!
They took 4 days to build the main stage with an 80tonne crane! And the event is scheduled to be broadcasted in 147 countries with an anticipated 30 million worldwide audience.
Everyone is hard at work even through the night to get the F1 rocks venue up and running! And backstage... the dressing rooms. This is a standard dressing room... blah...And Beyonce's dressing room... apparently, she demands the same exact set up, furniture, scent, water, etc everywhere she performs. Of course, it's not all done yet here... lol.
And this is the lounge connected to all the dressing rooms... where the stars and their entourage can booze up and mingle.N. actually can't make it for the concert on the 25th... so I was wondering if I should invite a boy (man) to go with me. But who do I ask??? What will it mean??? Would it be comfortable if I don't know my date THAT well?? Dating is confusing! And as luck would have it, my best friend F is back in SG now... so I decided to take her with me instead! Yay! It's going to be so much fun.
So... my fav ettusais products.... tickets to F1 rocks on the eve of my birthday with my Bestfriend..... and to top it all off... ...You're looking at one of the two Sony Vaio W brand ambassadors! Click here for full results.

About month ago, post break-up, I thought this was going to be the worst birthday of my life... but now it's turning out to be one of the bests! Surround yourself with those who love you, do the things that make you feel alive!

I'm sure there's someone out there for me. But for now... Singlehood Rocks!

INQ Launch pics

INQ mini 3G mobile launch over the Hari Raya weekend was held outside Taka in a new Pop-up store. Randall Tan was hosting. Shan Wee made an appearance too. And Dawn Yeoh (but I don't watch channel 8 so I didn't know who she was, and when I blogged abt this event the last time... I said Dawn Yang was coming. My mistake, haha)Krisandro, and Joe Teh of TechieLobang were there with me on the 20th too.Lively molemole & I. We could not come up with more interesting poses. Both so unimaginative! Lol (LOVE the white trekkie bottoms you wore!)
My fav shot of the day. Haha... I'm not repulsed by you.. only pretending! (Hope you win the F1 Tickets!)

And yes... for those awaiting the contest results for the $100 voucher + $100 cash on the INQ competition... SingTel still hasn't given me the results yet. Soon soon.

(My ring was from Happyburger, dress from shoplifters.)

Going to fortcanning this evening to look at the behind the scenes set up of F1 Rocks. If it's interesting enough, I'll blog about it tomorrow. :)

The Break Up Break Down

Update: short clip of the Sg Blog Awards Night here. I love my outfit sponsored by Lingerie Plaza! Thank you for helping me pick the right one! Was supposed to win Best Dressed that night.... but no one told me (till the day After), so I left early to go eat cheese cake. kwa kwa kwa
Also a short write up by Publicity Pimp , who was the one who hooked me up with Komachi The HairCult.

-----------------------------
And now, the Break Up Break down.

After the agonizing first days after the break up, I've been thinking a
nd doing a post mortem of sorts.

A lot of readers said that we moved too fast. I don't think we moved too fa
st. If you're both ready for the next stage and have common goals... then why hold yourselves back.

If anything... it's not the speed which was a problem... but it was the intensity. On average, we'd spend at least 4 whole days a week doing things together - gym, lunch, pool, dinners, movies, watch tv, events, read the papers, parties, shopping, supermarket.... all done together. And I'm talking 24-7 from the time we wake up (which is half past 7, we're both early risers) to the time we sleep. When on average I guess... most married couples spend like the evenings and weekends together because they're chained to work and careers...and dating couples, probably about a weekday night and a Saturday together.

The intensity suited our lifestyles and we both liked doing the same things. But when one or both people start to falter (or start getting apprehensive about the relationship and future), the intensity is like a catalyst to a break up.

Well, will I purposely see my next BF less, or give him less attention
because of this? I don't think so... I mean, I rather ... if it weren't meant to be... have it fail then to drag on for years only to slowly realise he's not the one. Like one reader said - I just have to find someone who moves to my rhythm. What do you think?
----------------

Is it time to move on?

Grief is very personal, and I guess no one is in a better position than myself to know when it's right to move on. Just because I choose to accept that it wasn't meant to be, and that I just have lay the past (good times and bad) to rest... doesn't mean that I loved Mark any less or that I didn't value what we had in the past.
-----------------

Did I see this coming?

Apart from from the fact that we were talking about the future (or lack of future) of the relationship for a few weeks before the actual break up... there were other signs which indicated that we were emotionally "pulling out" of the relationship. Well, him, more so than me. I was still emotionally in the relationship right to the break up. I can't quit on something because I THINK it's going to end... that would give me a great sense of guilt.

So what were some of the signs?

1. IrritableI would come home after teaching (hungry and tired) on Wed nights because I finish at 6 plus usually, but over the last couple of months of our relationship, I had to cover classes for a colleague on Maternity leave so I finished at 8.30pm, and reached Mark's only to start cooking dinner at 9 plus (too tired to go out for dinner). And these Wednesdays I would always be wound up and irritable, Like if he wanted his chicken off the bone... or simple things like that.... it would make me swear under my breath -I'm tired! Why can't you just eat the damn thing as it is!

And on the 3 afternoons that I teach, on my way to work, I'd ring him... and usually it's about 2pm, lunch time, and I'd ask him what he was having for lunch. He's a creature of habit too... so it's usually spag bol at Project shop, grilled salmon at Border's bistro, Steak at Black Angus or his avocado salad at Modestos. Now, I've been doing this for almost a year... and looked forward to it (before I started class), and he
would be receptive, cheerful and full of love but over the last few weeks of the relationship... those same calls would be a source of tension. I remember being so shocked when I asked him one day , something like... " Hi Bubba, I'm on my way to work... you at lunch yet?""What you eating today?" and he went... "Do you really have to know?!"

So, it took a lot of effort and I no longer looked forward to those pre/post lunch calls because I had to bite my tongue every time I wanted to ask what he was eating (and I was so used to asking it as well).

2. No More Talk About Future
We had always been talking about having kids. I came off the pill a few months ago (because it would take months for traces of the pill to completely flush out of the system). But towards the end of the relationship, none of us ever mentioned kids or marriage.

Furthermore, he had mentioned going back to England for a couple of months at the end of the year. He was even talking about whether I wanted to spend my birthday in Singapore (so my family could be around) and if so, we'd go after my birhtday. But as my birthday drew close, there were no plans made,
no talk about the trip.

All our plans were suddenly limited to TODAY.

3. Overly Critical
've always been pretty much the same... not like I changed and became a different person. I've never pulled the wool over his eyes, pretending to be someone, but slowly over time, letting my true self out. I'm definitely not guilty of that.

But suddenly... almost as instant as flicking a light switch... he became critical of my character and flaws. Sometimes I think he wanted a break up so, having these reasons would strengthen him and make him more resolute. I don't know.

4. Physically Distant
I am a cuddler... and a hand holder. I love affection. We would always hold hands when walking about.. and I always lie on his chest on the sofa, when watching TV. For like 10 months... but prior to he break up, I did realise he would always say he's hot and sticky and needed space on the sofa. And then when we were walking about, he would casually (not rough and abrupt) let go of my hand, keep his hands busy or in his pockets. And I remember raising it one late afternoon while we were sitting at the coffee bean outside Forum. I sat there looking at all the couples going past hand in hand.. and I remember sadly saying to myself... what has happened? How come I don't have that anymore? I didn't see it coming.

But Mark said that most of his guy friends don't hold their wives hands (yeah... but they also don't go home very often either!) and that men see holding hands as pointless. But we discussed it and I told him it made me sad and that holding his hand made me feel secure. And he said that ok... we'll hold hands more often (but we broke up exactly a week after this conversation). Sad huh.

--------------
Ok.... such a long wordy post. But it's been on my mind the past week.

Next post... I want to discuss dating protocol. Hope to have your input for that too.

Who is this Moron?

You know what?

I don't mind criticism and negative comments. But when one person floods my tagboard with insults... AND pretends that each one is from a different person by keying in different nicknames... it's downright childish and moronic.

I've recently over the last few weeks gotten a slew of hate mails, and negative comments.. (usually I get the odd few, which is fine... but to suddenly get like flooded... bit odd).

So I tracked the I.P addresses on my tag board.. and surprise surprise... they're all from one person! Now, I don't filter any comments or tags simply because they are negative about me... I respect your freedom of speech. But I will pry and dig into it when I smell a fat rat.

And this moron even made a comment that I was pretending to be the nickname "Stranger" and giving positive comments to myself. I hate that he/she is trying to poison the minds of my readers, make them think that I am deceptive when I'm not.

Here's the printscreen. Click to enlarge.
anyway... Ass, What?!, Stranger2, Leg, Golddigger are all the same person. IP 190.102.206.48

How do I find out exactly who this idiot is? Do I have to cross reference IP 190.102.206.48 to all other comments in the past and see if I can figure out who it is based on any matches? So much work.

And more importantly, WHY would someone invest this much energy into hating me or my blog? I really cannot understand it.... unless perhaps I find out who exactly this person is. If it were a dark alley and I know I would not get caught, I'd jab my stiletto heel in you eye.

Can someone with more techie knowledge help me?
_______

Ever since this pic was tagged on Facebook, people have been emailing to ask if he's my new BF. I don't move THAT fast guys! It's my friend John.... known him like a decade, and he's very dear to me. But yeah, sorry to kill the excitement, but not my BF lah.
It was my first time attending the Blog Awards on Sept 16. The whole event was well put togther. Only one gripe (apart from the fact that I didn't win. haha); the food was absolutely crap. Appalling for SupperClub standards.
There was cheapie bruchetta with a bit of tomato and cheese, and spaghetti in a chinese takeaway box. Very novel packaging, but tasted like wax (cold and stiff).
But the mood and ambiance was cool. And everything ran like clockwork. Thank you John for being my date for the night (and I'm so sorry I was late.. taxi driver's fault)!
Special thanks to Lingerie Plaza for my Cute Pokie dotie lingerie, ettusais for my make up, Annyee for my pretty stilleto heels and Komachi for bringing my hair back to fab condition.

Perfect Mascaras

Received a package from Ettusais...

It said...

Baby doll?

Sexy Lady?

Pretty Girl?

What's your PERFECT look for today?Take a chance. Throw the ettusais dice. And in my package... 2 new mascaras, a mirror and an ettusais dice! Cute! So if I'm ever undecided about the look I want to pull off for the day, I can just roll the dice :) haha.

With the Seperate Mascara(Perfect) and Perfect Multi Mascara, the possibilities are endless because these 2 new mascaras from ettusais bring you maximum versatility in the way you want to look. Because I just had my eyelash extensions done, I could not try out the new mascaras (!!!!). But I really wanted to see how good they were... so I did a mini eye make over on my friend B.

The Separate Mascara (Perfect) is for natural looking lashes.
I love that the wand is like a very fine comb(Number 1 in pic) because this will allow you to spread the mascara evenly onto every lash.

By the way, I use this on my bottom lashes! The fine comb makes it easy to apply on even the finest lashes.

Then there is the Perfect Multi Mascara which has fuzzy fibres so it will add va va voom volume and length to your lashes for an all out dolly look.

B's lashes are very fine and not that long. So she was skeptical about how well the mascara would work on her. Tadah! Just look at the before after pics! I used the Perfect Multi Mascara on her, and no other make up. It makes such a difference doesn't it! It really adds so much volume and intensity to the lashes. Love it!

The secret in not only in the tiny fuzzy fibres in the mascara, but also the applicator! It's a double action applicator. (See Number 2 in pic above) One side a coil, the other side comb. The coil helps to apply the mascara onto the lashes and the comb helps to comb the mascara through, separating each and every single lash!

This is a party or night out mascara! Or if like me, you love long lashes, then it can be your everyday mascara :) I'm going to use this religiously when I take my extensions off to give my real lashes a rest. Plus, the mascaras from ettusais hae jojobar oil so it will help condition and strengthen my lashes.

They are available at all ettusais counters at $39 each.

But for today, one lucky reader will get it free! All you have to do is go to http://www.ettusais.sg/ and find the answer to this question-

How Many Items Are There In The Mascara Section?

Send your Name, Mailing Address & Answer to hollyjean69@hotmail.com . I will randomly pick one correct entry on 18th Sept 2359hrs. [Only one entry per person please]

OK, I got to go shower.. it's the Blog Awards tonight!!

Singapore Blog Awards After Party: You're Invited!

House pours will be 1-for-1 all night long [*glug* *glug* *glug*] and Moet @ S$100 nett.

---------------------

Since it's a bedroom theme, I'm not going to do anything fancy with my hair even though Komachi the HairCult kindly offered to style my hair for the evening. So, instead, I went down to their salon at Liang Court (River Valley Rd) earlier today to try out their hair treatment.
They did a milkshake treatment for me. The experience was simply devine! Started off with a relaxing scalp massage and hair wash. Then the milk treatment (natural enough for you to be able to eat it!) and steam. Lastly, they trimmed my fringe a bit for me.
Komachi is a Japanese hair salon and the stylists are all Japanese. I enjoyed my experience there as the place is relaxing (they even have a private massage/spa like room), and the service excellent.
I asked them a bunch of questions regarding hair care too. Will tell you more about all that at the end of the week!
For now... Good Night! :)

I'm a Star Blogger Today :)

Have you watched Blog Tv? It airs every Thursday at 9.15pm.
Last week they discussed Miss World Singapore Ris Low's atrocious english and lack of brains. The poor girl... she's been getting so much negative publicity. However, I watched her interview video and it was very very bad.

Anyway, this week they're discussing Plastic Surgery. And I was asked to write a short post on it as a Star Blogger.

You can read it here.
-------------
I had a nice day today. I was out with my best friend F. She's back in SG until the day after my birthday. :) I've not been so happy for weeks! Definitely cheered me up and made my day.

Aphrodisiacs Tried & Tested

My latest column on My Fat Pocket is my trial and testing on different aphrodisiacs and whether it had any effect on sex. Of course, this was written when I was still with Mark.... (wasn't testing it with some random man!).

Mark is back from Phuket, but we decided against meeting up today.

The Blog Awards is coming up on Wednesday. (Exactly 2 weeks after the break up). And it should be a happy exciting time for me. But I'm really sad. I always go to events with Mark. But now that we're no longer a couple, I got to learn to let go. Grow. Adapt to new routines. It's hard, I'm resistant. And I loved my old routines so much.

I'm even fighting the urge to ring my friends to ask if I can come over and cook for them. I miss my kitchen.

But I think all that is just auxilliary to the fact that I miss Mark.

I'm going to the Blog Awards with John. But somehow, I feel like a charity case. Like he's only doing it out of pity because he doesn't want me to feel alone :( And he's been a great source of support and strength, especially just after the break up. It's confusing. I got to stop feeling sorry for myself, otherwise I won't be able to move on and enjoy all these great moments in my life.

HJ

On a Happy note - my best friend F is back down in SG! For a week. Watched a movie last night. Can't wait to spend more time with her. (a bit sore about the fact that she's a MRS now and I got to start ALL OVER AGAIN though)
and last thing- only 6 gstrings left in my CherryPop Shop stock. Do grab it while you can. Not sure what I'll source for next! :)

F1 Rocks Concert Tickets & Ask Holly Jean

Quick update: Wheeee! I've been sponsored tickets to F1 Rocks! I'm going on the day when No Doubt is performing... loove Gwen Stefani! And I'll be bringing you behind the scenes look at the whole set up too... I'll let readers know soon how they can win a pair of day passes to F1 Rocks! Stay tuned for that.
------------------

I've been lagging behind in my Ask Holly Jean section. Here's another one. Keep your questions coming, I'll do my best to reply to everyone even if it doesn't make the Ask Holly Jean section on the blog.

Dear Holly Jean,

Do you believe in open relationships?

I’ve been dating Jeff for 2 months now, and we’ve decided that we want to have an open relationship. He says he loves me but it’s too much pressure to have an exclusive relationship so he’s not ready yet.

I am happy with him and I don’t want to ruin anything by forcing him to commit.

What do you think?
K.

Dear K,

If you want my honest opinion… I think that an open relationship is the same thing as not having a relationship at all.

If he loves you, why does he need to keep his options open?
If you are not looking for love, then i guess go for it. But for me, commitment, love and trust is an important part of any relationship.

Do think long and hard about what you want in a relationship, and explore what his true motives are. I may be wrong… but I think he’s just being selfish and is keeping you in tow while looking out for a better one to swap you with.

Even if you choose to go ahead with this open relationship, go in with your eyes wide open… and keep your options wide open too. Afterall, if that’s what he wants, it’s only fair you do the same.

Take care.

Forever,
Holly Jean.

Seventh Heaven

I was having a good nap this afternoon. Even Bailey was out cold. Look... haha. But I had to cut my nap short because I promised to meet my good old friend Jason at his latest venture.... Seventh Heaven.
I wore my new floral dress from FashionPod. So feminine chic. And yes, I have lost weight over the past week, I look very boney. :(

Nothing a bit of rich and flavourful ice cream can't fix! Seventh Heaven is near Spottiswood... and although they have a nice dine-in area, they also cater for events (within the premises and away).
.
They make all their own ice-creams and come up with new creations all the time. So if you're having a party, you can customise your ice-cream to any flavour/colour. Imagine having a Fushia Birthday Party with bright pink ice cream!!!
Here is the menu. All sorts! Bailey's Irish cream, Whisky, Green Tea flavoured ice cream... and they also have your classics like Vanilla. I highly recommend the Peanut Butter ice cream (yummmm) and the Lychee Martini ice cream ( how cool is that!).
.
It's at Raeburn Park (behind the old railway)... pop down for a delightful treat!
P/S- PINT'S DAY Enjoy 17% off all pints (takeaway) every Thursday
.
Ok I'm done here! Full of ice cream... am heading back home now. Hope traffic is kind to me.
(Don't forget to check out my new CHERRYPOP shop sale)

My ettusais Photo shoot and personal training

It's been one week since the split.

Mark leaves for Phuket today (maybe gone this morning, not sure), he's playing golf with his best friend (another Mark) for a few days.

He suggested lunch when he gets back... on Sunday. I don't know. Is it a good idea? Am I ready for it? I'd say no, because I'm still missing him, so it would only be an ordeal for me to meet him for lunch as just friends... after all that we've been through.

I've been doing well keeping myself busy.

Yesterday I did a shoot for Ettusais. It was good fun.
(Whoops! Not allowed to release the shoot pics until mid oct! Those pics will be back up on my blog then)
Look out for it in November's CLEO mag.
You know the past few days I've been feeling skinny. I know I'm not fat, but I've been feeling skinny...like a bag of bones... deflated. Feels like a whole short circuit and all the energy has been drawn from me, leaving me limp.
That makes it especially hard to go about my day and do things with a cheery smile as if I don't have a care in the world.
I think it's because of the stress of the break up... and that my routine (you know cooking dinners, going gym, swimming, etc) has been broken. I used to do all that with my partner (not complaining, I enjoyed it)... and now it's like I got to build a whole new routine on my own.
Starting to lose my tan, and energy. So today I got a personal trainer and had my first gym session since the break up.
I like my trainer, good mix of fun and seriousness. Best part is... I feel the effects. Whoohoo! Maybe I can just concentrate on my body for a while... finally get those 6 pecs kicking in... *fingers crossed* . So I've signed for 10 sessions starting this Friday... for those interested in exercise and getting in shape, I'll update you about it later on.
I've also got to figure out how I can get swimming back into my schedule.

Tomorrow afternoon, I'm going to hang at my friend J's new gourmet ice-cream shop, it's been open about a year but I never made the effort to go down. Think it will be a nice treat! Will blog from there tomorrow.
Also got to share news with you about disappearing man! Yes, he has contacted me out of the blue upon reading about my break up. But don't worry, I'm not stupid. Definitely not looking to hook up with him. I know what kind of a guy he is based on his past with me. More updates tomorrow!
Just realised today's date is 09-09-09!

SONY VAIO W REVIEW & Win One Yourself!

You know what? It's kinda disappointing.
.
I've fallen behind in votes. Like.. Mega Falling behind.
.

Bagaholic boy has managed to rally 400plus votes from his readers, and I've got about 200 plus. When I first saw this today, I thought.. wow.. his blog must be popular, he must get twice the amount of hits I do.

But then I went to check, and actually, it isn't so. I have at least a thousand more daily hits than he does. It's just that less of my readers bothered to support me.
.
This makes me worried now about the blogawards as well... because maybe I didn't get the support I thought I did. :S
.
But at least for the blogawards, I can't see who has voted. But for facebook, it's shown. The only thing suckier than not getting a vote is hearing some people tell me- I've voted for you babe, when actually, I went to look and they didn't. *sad laugh at myself*
But Life Goes On!
Spent the last couple of weeks with the Vaio W... and here's my video and review. video
The Sony VAIO W review. Even though I spend a lot of time on the computer, I am no gadget geek. I don't know what Rams are or what exactly they do. But what I do know is whether a product looks great, works well and enhances my lifestyle.
The Sony VAIO W mini notebook is the latest in the netbook market and retails at Sgd$899. Beautifully rounded and compact, it comes in 3 colours, like the neopolitan ice-cream; pink, white and brown. All these yummy colours have their matching mouse, pouches and accessories in the VAIO W series. This ultra-portable baby tips just over the 1kg scale (1.19kg including battery) and is 1.3 inches thick. But this tiny thing packs enough punch with a whopping 160 GB hard disk, which to me is great because I had another netbook before, and even though I loved that it was so cute and tiny, it only had a 4GB harddisk space, which rendered it pretty much useless when it comes to watching/editing videos or photos. The operating system is Windows XP, and it has all the USB and memory card slots one would need. And as with all VAIOs, it has a slot for my Sony Camera's memory card so it's so convenient to transfer and upload pics anytime, anywhere. Battery life is 2.5 hours. It also has a nifty little built in web cam and mic but of course, that is a common feature in most laptops and netbooks now.

What does set the VAIO W apart from other netbooks however, is the screen and keyboard. The screen is 10.1-inches and Sony has packed in one of its tasty X-black LCDs, assisted by LED technology. Furthermore, it ups the resolution to 1,366 x 768 pixels – larger than the normal 1024 x 600 resolution standard. The colour and contrast are also excellent.
This makes watching videos very pleasureable and not at all a strain. Another advantage of the VAIO W's impressive screen resolution is that you don't have to scroll sideways when viewing websites. My previous netbook was a nightmare when it came to typing long emails or blog posts because I needed fingertips with the precision of a brain surgeon. Truly exhausting and vomit inducing trying to get work done. (If you're going to get a netbook of any kind, make sure you don't get one with a cheap, uncomfortably tiny and unresponsive keyboard. You will definitely regret it)

So I am extremely pleased that the VAIO W has the pebble type keyboard, which means all the keys are isolated. There is also decent spacing between these large and responsive keys. Trust me when I say - It is a dream to type on! (I have no complaints about its touchpad, it's soft and sensitive)
As with all Sony products, attention has been paid to design and quality. The superb screen size and quality, and fantastic keyboard will set the W series apart from the crowd.

And if that isn't enough to keep you beaming, of course, there is the aspirational value of the VAIO brand. Be seen with the best, don't settle for less. :)

One lucky reader from my blog will win $100 cash AND $100 Shopping voucher. Yay! :)

-------------------
INQ is the world's first social mobile... it's not available in Singapore (yet). Until now, I never knew a social mobile even existed! I can't wait for it to come. Look!
And it's a social mobile because with this phone, you can use SKYPE, instant messaging is as easy as SMS, a great camera, use the twitter application and it consolidates all your inboxes (Facebook/emails etc) into one list. I use all those applications everyday so it's great to have one device (other than my computer itself) that can support and organise all of it. It's going to make my life much more organised, I can blog, use my messenger and respond to direct tweets/ facebook messages anytime.
Not only can you log in to your Facebook account on this phone but there's even a real time Facebook screensaver!

Yet it doesn't have to be big ass bulky like most phones now, there's the compact and colourful INQ Mini 3G (102.9mm x 45.8mm x 12.8mm). This phone offers impressive capability at a fraction of the price of other application-rich devices. I want!!!! Instructions for the contest: (Looks long but actually very simple steps, just take a few mins to read first)

Is It Too Soon To Date Again?

This afternoon, I had high tea at Olive Tree with some other bloggers (including TravelFolio's Eunice and DK) and representatives from Malaysian Airlines. Ten of us are going to be the Sg Bloggers for Malaysian Airlines.
This includes sponsored travel. Yay! More interesting things to blog about! Will tell you about it when the time comes.

I actually received my accessories from HappyBurgers earlier this week. But I haven't had the mood to wear them until today.
Nice big of chunky accessories for my meeting with M'sia Air reps!

I Heart this Bangle! It's white faux leather in the middle, and gold rims, with stud-like gold braces in strips. Happy Burgers sells clothes too.

So after the meeting, I zipped down to Parkway because I was going to meet a (new) date for coffee. Met him online today itself and we fixed up coffee.

We were supposed to meet at 5pm, But at 4.30, I texted him to say, make it 5.15pm because my meeting was taking longer than expected.

I left the meeting at 5, thinking it will only take 15 minutes to get to Parkway from Bugis. It usually does. But sods law... I got there at almost 5.30pm.

I think he was pissed off that I was late. I apologised, sat down (he was waiting in coffeebean), and he said he only had 15 minutes because the maid was coming to clean his place at 6pm and he had to get back by then.

Honestly, I would have preferred no minutes.

It was uncomfortable. I sat there with no drink. There was zero attraction.

God! Is this what dating is going to be like until I finally find someone special again?

---------------
Last night, my friend Ben took me out for beers at Pasir ris Beach (there's this bar there called Summer Breeze). I like it.

Anyway, he thought it was a BAD idea for me to start dating so soon. He thinks I need time to myself.

Yes, it has only been 4 days since the break up. And these 4 days have passed so fast because I've been keeping myself so busy.

It's only in brief moments of silence when I catch myself feeling sad, alone and lost. But with experience, I know that these moments will happen less and less often. I'm moving on.

I really don't see the point in letting myself be depressed about it. We did all we could. It just wasn't meant to be.

I blogged once that I can be very strong when it comes to getting over break ups... (click)

I'm still that same person. The Bull Dozer.

I think I am ready to start dating.... have fun, socialise, and get a feel of what's out there for me. I'm not going into it looking for someone to marry next week or something! I don't expect that I will come across a Magic Moment with anyone... not this soon. So I'm not going to get my hopes up.

What do you think?

--------------
Update:12.20 am. This is harder than I thought it would be. Just had a mini melt down. It's funny how it can be ok the whole day...and then suddenly I'm lying in bed, and missing his scent and his warmth.

Nothing

I just received a message from reader Melody and it had a quote I like. So I thought I'd share it here:

Someday someone is gonna step into your life and make you realise why everyone else didn't work out.
I hope so. I hope I didn't screw up the one shot I had at a great guy.

Will it really be apparent when I meet someone who is an absolute match? Or will we seem to match at first only to find out later that actually, we don't. Think I'm a bit jaded now.

But who knows what the future holds eh! At worst... my good friend Alwyn said we can check into the same old age home together and grow old together. (*smile*)

----------------
Oh.. for those of you who think that this break up thing is a just a ploy to up my readership, honestly, from the bottom of my heart, FUCK YOU.

I've Failed... again.

Most of you have heard through Twitter already.

Mark and I split last night. No, it wasn't a big fight, no one did anything wrong (like cheat or something)... but especially over the last month, things were just not working out. Differences which were probably around since day 1... just became less tolerable I guess.

We don't hate each other.

But I'm very very sad.

Ok, can't say more right now. I don't want to start crying again.

Had a rough night. Gathered all my stuff and slept at my friend John's house. Yeah, those of you who have been reading long enough would find John familiar, he's someone I've known since I was about 18 (just a baby). We've been friends since.

I had been crying so much that I could not get to sleep. My nose was blocked, and because I already had a sore throat from the day before, breathing through my mouth was very uncomfortable. And you know what? He stroked my hair until I fell asleep.

I think I'll be ok. There are people around who care for me.

Thank you for all the calls and SMSs I've been getting. If I've been very short and curt with the replies... it's only because I cannot let my guard down, otherwise I start thinking and feeling depressed.

-----------------

I've still got the Vaio video to do... due tomorrow, I don't know how I'm going to churn one out at the state I'm in.

If you haven't voted for me yet, (I'm trailing behind the leader by some 20 votes at the moment)...

1. You have to log in to your facebook and click Become A Fan here

2. Then you cast your vote by clicking LIKE underneath my photo here.
Also Click LIKE under my review here.
-------------------

There were so many things I was looking forward to do with Mark this month.
The Sg blog Awards at the supper club on the 16th.
Malaysian Airlines has approached me to be an SG blogger for them so that involves free trips to anywhere in M'sia. (Having lunch this Sunday with them)
And then there is my birthday.

Right now none of that seem to matter. I can't help feeling sorry for myself.

Such is life I guess. Such is Life.

Hen Nights & Bachelor Parties: Harmless Fun or Passport to Infidelity?

This month on MyFatPocket, the theme is wine & dine, Party Life.

With my close girl friends all tying the knot this year (yes, except for me.. and one other in Australia... PLEASE wait for me!) Ironically enough, the one in Australia and myself are the two oldest ones of all my girlfriends. OK... the age gap between the oldest and youngest of my girlfriends is only like 3 years.
But Still!!!
Anyway, Mabok is the next one, and she's getting married in December. Yes we call her Mabok ( which means drunk in Malay)... she earned that nickname when we were teenagers because she's very bubbly on any normal day, but even more so when out clubbing.

Yes... someone with the nickname Mabok... is settling down before me. (haha. *Hugs* Mabok)

So... many of my friends have been having their hen nights and bachelor parties.
So my article on MFP this week, just how harmless is that last hoorah?

-----------------------

I've attended a few Hen nights and heard enough of what goes on at Bachelor parties to make me worry about when the time comes for me to tie the knot. Men often say that the stag night (aka Bachelor party) is their last night of freedom. To me, that is bullshit. You're in a monogamous relationship so you're already committed and have been committed for the last year (or however long you've been together).

So what is this one last hurrah about? Is it really just harmless fun?

10 Notches On The Moral Compass: 0 being harmless and 10 being just plain sinful no matter how many excuses he/she comes up with!
Basic Bonding activities
Notch 0: This does not involve the other sex. Women stay home and watch romantic movies together, give the bride to be presents and have a girly night. Men go racing, or shooting, or play poker together.
Hitting The Club
Notch 1: The club is the most common of places to have a Bachelor/Hen party. Opposite sex and alcohol are present... but that could well be harmless, if there’s no touching or flirting going on.
Harmless Flirting
Notch 2: You flirt with the opposite sex, probably at a club, and even more probably at the instigation of your peers, but it doesn't go beyond that. There is no intention of hooking up or exchanging contacts.

Mild Stripping
Notch 3: My girlfriend had her hen night at Gotham Penthouse where they had male strippers. It is also just as easy to hire a stripper to dance at your private party. It's a harmless notch number 3 if you see but don't touch... and if it's not the full Monty (just down to a G-string).

Full Strippers
Notch 4: One notch above those tame strippers… are the wild nights where there is a full striptease. If you feel that seeing a man/woman take all their clothes off while sexually gyrating and asking for money is what you need just before you're going to get married... then I question how much you value your relationship and marriage.

Touching
Notch 5: Touching the stripper in any way (be it a lap dance or whatever)... or touching someone from the club in the process of flirting would bump you up to the 5th notch.

Toucing WITH Intention
Notch 6: If you touch a stripper or random member of the opposite sex (in intimate places eg. breast or crotch) with the intention of getting physical and initiating sex, it's wrong (even if you're unsuccessful in sealing the deal).
Grinding
Notch 7: It’s perfectly ok to dance around people of the opposite sex, but if you're dancing so close to the opposite sex that your groins have to grind together. That's too close.

Kissing
Notch 8: Harmless as you may think it is... a kiss is not just a kiss. Congratulations, you have cheated on your future spouse.

Hand Job/ Blow Job
Notch 9: Be it received or given. No matter how drunk or dark it was... inexcusable!

Sex!
Notch 10: Sex with anyone other than your fiancé is grounds for dismissal! Call off the wedding. Even if he/she does still marry you, you have brought upon yourself a lifetime of problems and shame. It's going to be a recurring topic in arguments and you can bet your last dollar on the fact that it will never be forgotten by your partner.

This is my moral compass, and yours may be set on a different dial. What do you think???Would you be okay with your partner having a Bachelor party? Can you trust yourself to behave at your own? What would you consider going too far?

If you're about to have a bachelor party or hen night... I'll leave you with just one piece of advice:
If it feels wrong, it probably is wrong.
